We have a special treat for you today, instead of featuring an individual item we are going to feature one of the great companies that designs cross stitch, and needlepoint kits. We are talking about Kooler Design Studios. You have seen their great work throughout abullrun’s store and videos.
Recently we were able to talk to Daline Garmon, social media consultant, blogs for Kooler Design Studio and manages the Twitter account and Facebook fan page. While Daline has been a fan of Kooler Design Studio from the very beginning, especially the Cross Stitch designs, she is a recent addition to the staff. Daline dabbles in all sorts of crafty goodness including various types of embroidery, beading, painting, crochet, and is also learning to knit.
Here is our interview:
abullrun: Could you give us a brief history of Kooler Design Studios?
KDS: Donna started her own company, Kooler Design Studio, Inc. in 1985 (after being the Design director for Sunset Designs, a needlework kit company starting in 1973). Donna takes great pride in her talented and creative staff, but she also attributes the success of the company to the wonderfully supportive companies she has had the pleasure of partnering with over the years.
Kooler Design Studio licenses designs to needlework, cross stitch, needlepoint, craft, knit, crochet, scrapbooking, paint-by-number, embroidery, decorative painting and lifestyle publishers. The work of our designers appears in magazines, hardcover and soft cover books, leaflets, CDs, and kits.
abullrun: What kind of crafts does Kooler Design Studios create and sell?
KDS: Kooler Design Studio sells a wide variety of craft patterns, kits, and supplies for Cross Stitch, Crochet, Knitting, Needlepoint, Quilting, Decorative Painting, Beading, and painted glass gifts.
All the products sold on the website are designed by Kooler Design Studio's capable team of designers.
abullrun: Can you buy a kit already made?
KDS: Yes, we sell kits for Needlepoint, Counted Cross Stitch, Stamped Cross Stitch and Embroidery. We also sell charted designs and painted glass products.
abullrun: How does Kooler Design Studios decide which design becomes a cross stitch or needlepoint?
KDS: We try to give the manufacturer a balance between the crafts i.e. needlepoint, cross stitch and stamped cross stitch. Also, the kind of product dictates the craft; baby products are always cross stitch and stamped cross stitch. Big bold designs lend themselves to needlepoint and intricate delicate designs work best in cross stitch.
abullrun: Where can you purchase Kooler Design Studios merchandise?
KDS: Our designs are available at Kooler Design Studio if you don't have a local needlecraft store.
abullrun: How can one contact and or follow Kooler Designs Studios?
