Hello everybody. Spring is upon us and the month of April stays busy. Just the way we like it. Today's date is a very special day in United States history. On April 4, 1818 congress passes a plan that the flag of the United States, will have 13 red and white stripes and one star for each state. The number of stripes would be reduced to 13 so as to honor the original colonies. It also anticipated the need for further amendments by stating that the number of stars could be changed to equal the number of states every July 4th.  The most recent change, from 49 stars to 50, occurred in 1960 when the present design was chosen, after Hawaii gained statehood in August 1959.

So the question before us is, how best to honor this act without showing a flag? For that answer we turn to our trusted answering machine the digital vaults at abullrun for that answer. The answer is the Kreinik Silk Thread Colonial Milkpaint Collection. It is an interesting choice but a very good one.  In the Flag Act of 1818 they wanted to honor the original colonies for their contribution in forming the United States with the 13 stripes on the flag. We too want to want to honor the original colonies for their contributions.

So what better item to feature on April 4 to honor the Flag Act of 1818 than the Kreinik Silk Thread Colonial Milkpaint CollectionMilkpaint was a common type of paint used in Colonial and early 19th century periods. That makes Kreinik Milkpaint colors great for historical samplers in Colonial, Federal, and the Victorian era. These colors reproduced the wonderful tones of this historical era.

The Kreinik Silk Thread Colonial Milkpaint Collection includes 25 Kreinik Silk Mori 1/2 skeins in the milkpaint colors, a six-compartment shatter-free storage /gift box, and a flower sampler design by Ewe & Eye & Friends.
